Asbestos Management Survey and Asbestos Refurbishment / Demolition Survey

There are two types of survey referred to in the Health & Safety Executives publication HSG 264 - Asbestos: The Survey Guide and we offer both.

The first is called the 'management Survey: Standard sampling, identification and assessment survey. The purpose of this survey is to locate as far as practicable the presence and extent of any asbestos containing material (ACM) and to assess their condition. Materials are either presumed or strongly presumed to be an ACM unless samples are taken and analysed; the results of such analysis will confirm or refute the surveyor's judgement.? The number of samples should be sufficient for the surveyor to make an assessment of whether asbestos is or is not present.? All asbestos containing materials identified on site will be given a Material Risk Assessment and Priority Rating that will enable a Management Plan to be developed that reflects the relative risks posed by the different asbestos containing materials. Implementation of the management plan will ensure a safe working environment is maintained insofar as asbestos materials are concerned; and, compliance with the appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.

The second type of survey is called the 'refurbishment / Demolition Survey: Full access sampling and identification survey. This type of survey is used to locate and describe as far as practicable all ACMs in the building and will involve destructive inspection to gain access to all areas. A full sampling programme is undertaken to identify all possible ACMs.? The survey is used as a basis for tendering for the removal of ACMs from the building prior to demolition or major refurbishment.

Our asbestos surveyor is very is fully qualified and trained in accordance with the latest HSE guidance. He is also fully equipped to carry out these surveys and to collect samples in a safe manner. Prior to conducting the survey we prepare a risk assessment based work plan for systematically inspecting the interior and exterior. This plan will be available for inspection by the HSE and is held on site during the inspection.
