Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Thatcham, Newbury, Berkshire

Was Sir Christopher Wren an architect or a surveyor or a fusion of both? The answer is that like us he was a fusion of both, although we don't claim anything in our projects list as grand as St. Paul's Cathedral. However, there are similarities because like him we look after the fabric of buildings,we prepare alteration and improvement schemes as well as design extensions and new buildings.

We are a professional practice comprising building surveyors, quantity surveyors and architects.

From our base in Thatcham, near Newbury, we have good access to the whole M4 corridor from Bristol in the west to London in the east. We also have good north south access to Oxford and Banbury in the north and Winchester and Southampton in the south.

Because we encompass building surveying, quantity surveying and architecture we are able to offer a wide range of services to a great many clients. A quick look at our clients will give you an idea of the range and type of client that we are proud to have served. The list is not complete, there are many other private and commercial clients that do not fall into an easy category. For some the relationship spans several decades and even several generations; we are grateful to them for their repeat instructions and the recommendations they provide.

Our surveyors and architects are very experienced and professionally qualified. They keep up to date with changes in the law, in practice and in the building regulations by attending regular training courses.

It is difficult to summarise the variety of building types and services that we provide. The buildings range from offices, shops, factories, schools, libraries, museums, pubs and restaurants, farmhouses and farm buildings, leisure and recreation centres, doctors and dentists surgeries, houses and flats to many others. They also range from new to historic. Whilst the services range from building surveys, defects inspections, asbestos surveys, repair and refurbishment projects, schedules of condition and dilapidation, party wall issues and boundary disputes, measured land and building surveys, estimating, cost planning and cost in use, contract procurement, specifications and bills of quantities, contract documents, contractor selection, measured term contracts and design and build, project management and coordination, contract administration, dispute resolution, feasibility studies, new build, alterations and extensions, barn conversions and much, much more.

We tend to adopt a team approach to most of our work that brings together our skills and experience with that of our clients. We adopt the same team approach with other professionals including the building team so that together we deliver what the client wants.

For most instructions we endeavour to agree a fixed fee; however, there are some matters where the extent of the work is unknown and the best and most fair way forward is to agree a time charge.

If you have a project and would like to discuss, without obligation, what you have in mind and the fees that we charge then please contact us as soon as possible.
